Nick Powell

Nick Powell is Sky News’ Sports Editor. Nick joined Sky News in 1996 as a Chief Sub of Sunrise, and became a Sky News Sports presenter in 2000. Nick was also a Sky News Sports Presenter for Five News, from 2004 – 2005 before becoming Sports Editor in 2010.
 
Nick has broadcast live from the old and new Wembley stadiums, covered the Rugby World Cup in Paris live from a moving bus, reported on both the 2005 and 2009 Ashes triumphs and reported live from the Open Golf Championship and from the dramatic and wet 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor as well as numerous Grand Nationals and Wimbledon fortnights. 
 
Nick has won two RTS awards – for being part of the on-air team who won the OB of the year in 1989 for a rugby league programme ‘Scrumdown’, and for producing sports documentary of the year 1996, ‘Rugby league, a Northern religion’.

Nick formerly worked as a Breakfast News Presenter for Pennine radio, and as a Presenter and Producer of Yorkshire Television.

Nick studied German and Russian at Bradford University and holds a diploma in Journalism from Cardiff University. He enjoys sport, travel, and walking.
