Dharshini presents hourly business updates from Sky's Gherkin studios in the City and the flagship evening business programme Business Live. Bringing to life the financial issues of the day, she regularly secures rare and exclusive interviews with key players, including the CEOs of Marks and Spencer and Burberry, and the Chairman of Ineos. Her forensic approach has shaped the news agenda on major issues such as corporation tax avoidance and the government's austerity measures. Dharshini was also one of the very few journalists to accompany David Cameron throughout his 2010 General Election campaign.
Before joining Sky in 2009, Dharshini was Head of Broadcast for Tesco, where she advised the retailer's board on broadcast media. Prior to that, she fronted the BBC’s Wall Street coverage from New York, presenting a daily business TV show. During this time she was one of the first journalists to report on the emergence of the sub-prime crisis. This followed several years of covering business, economics and consumer issues in London for the BBC on all outlets - from the BBC1 Ten O'Clock News to Panorama and Radio 4's Today programme.
Dharshini was recruited by the BBC while working on HSBC Investment Bank's trading floor as its UK Economist. It was at HSBC that she first became a media commentator, after making headlines with original reports – including an expose of the true state of UK joblessness.
Dharshini read Economics at the University of Cambridge, and has also worked as an economist in government and academia.
