Biographies
Paul Bromley is Sky News Viewers’ Editor, promoting interactivity and responding to feedback about the channel’s news coverage.
When he was appointed to the job in September 2006, he was the first Viewers’ Editor in British television history.
He writes a regular blog on the Sky News website skynews.com/viewpoint which allows viewers to comment on the way stories are being reported.
Paul has worked for Sky News since September 1993 and reported from Westminster for many years as a political correspondent and occasional presenter of political discussion programmes. He still works on set-piece political events and co-ordinated all the results and factual information used during the 2010 General Election.
As a senior output producer, he provided line-by-line coverage for viewers of the Hutton inquiry and Soham murder trial. He was the producer in the studio gallery when the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated on its return to earth in February 2003.
After a degree in English from Leeds University, Paul took a post-graduate course in journalism at the Westminster Press training centre and then worked for the Kentish Times, Oxford Mail/Oxford Times and the Press Association news agency.
Paul’s work as Viewers' Editor has been recognised by prestigious outside organisations – he is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA) and a member of the Society of Editors. He regularly lectures to media studies students on various aspects of journalism and broadcasting.
Away from work, Paul is an award-winning magician and entertainer. He is a Member of The Magic Circle, an honour given to only 1,500 magicians worldwide.
